Individual Counseling

What is therapy like with Priscilla?

I am human first and model that imperfection with self compassion. I am honest to a fault and transparent. I deeply respect you and truly care. In session we laugh much more than we cry.  I will challenge that parts that don’t add up to me.  I love my work. I am AuDHD (ADHD + High masking Autistic) – this means I may come off a bit “eccentric” and unexpected at times. And it also gives me strengths that really serve my role as a therapist. The topics I “treat” have been my special interests that I deep dive learn about for many years.

“From caring comes courage.” Lao Tzu

I believe the trust that grows in a therapy relationship has a healing and empowering effect leading people to take courageous steps forward. In collaboration, we tailor therapy to suit your unique circumstances and abilities. One goal of counseling/therapy will be greater understanding of life experiences and acceptance of self, because it is these skills that enable people to deal with issues that once may have interfered with living fully and making solid connections with others.

Treatment Methods

I approach counseling from from a strength-based perspective, in which I integrate a variety of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), emotional, and body focused techniques (Somatic Experiencing). I frequently find that my clients need to address multiple issues concurrently, such as major life transitions, trauma, or grief.  In my work with clients I borrow from attachment and neurological research to create a safe place for exploration. I tend to geek out about the science behind healing and am happy to share as we go through the process if that aids your clarity. I’m always learning new tricks! In Spring 2025 I’m adding EMDR to my practice.

I have much experience with many counseling topics, such as anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Additionally, I have some areas of specialties in which have focused my post graduate training. I have spent countless hours learning more and support clients with Neurodiversity such as ADHD, AuDHD, Autism.

Payment is due at each appointment- credit card or zelle. I offer a limited number sliding scale fee clients and a complimentary initial 30 minute consultation.  I will not bill your insurance for sessions, but I am happy to give you a receipt to submit for insurance reimbursement. My reasons for not utilizing insurance include protecting your privacy and providing the best treatment for your specific needs. Many insurance companies require a mental illness diagnosis, place restrictions on what you may work on in counseling, require paperwork including very personal information, and limit treatment options.
